Elgin Armory, Elgin, IL

The Elgin Armory is an historic structure constructed in 1939 which required extensive exterior and interior repairs. Tripartite worked with the window manufacturer to achieve both an acceptable historic replication of the original windows, and a secure solution that answered the modern needs of the working armory.
Exterior restoration work included complete window, door and roof replacement, restoration of exterior concrete structure including repair of cracks and spalled areas and rebuilding of failed concrete lintels. Interior repairs included the restoration of historic doors and hardware, replacement and repair of finishes and light fixtures, and new lockers and security caging.

This project required submittal to the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and was designed to The Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Treatment of Historic Properties and the Guidelines for Rehabilitation of Historic Buildings.
