Nettelhorst Elementary School, Chicago, IL

The Nettelhorst School, located in the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, IL is a 19th century historic elementary school that suffered a sudden catastrophic collapse of the gymnasium roof trusses. This emergency project was completed under extreme time constraints and political scrutiny. Tripartite led the structural and engineering team for the fast-tracked reconstruction of the structure.

The work included structural framing repairs, new HVAC and electrical upgrades for the upper floors of the school, a roof replacement, interior and exterior finish repairs and exterior masonry repairs and wall rebuilding. The opportunity to provide the school with a new and restored gymnasium complete with its original climbing ropes and new climbing wall was a welcome outcome of this project.
